Indian shooter Saurabh Chaudhary, on the other hand, has reached the final of the 10m air pistol event. Saurabh finished first in the qualifying round of the 6th series scoring 586 out of 600 points. In this event, another Indian shooter Abhishek was eliminated in the qualifying round itself. He finished 17th with 575 points. The top-8 ranked shooter in qualifying gets a place in the final.

In men's hockey, India made a great start by defeating New Zealand 3-2. The pair of Deepika Kumari and Praveen Jadhav lost in the quarterfinals of the Archery Mixed Event. At the same time, in women's 10m air rifle event in shooting, Elavenil Valarivan and Apurvi Chandela of India could not qualify for the final. India's Sushila Devi had to face defeat in Judo.

Deepika-Praveen lost
to Korean pair Deepika and Praveen Jadhav were defeated 6-2 by Korean pair in the quarterfinals of Archery Mixed Event. Korea won the first two sets and scored 4 points. In the third set, India tried to make a comeback by winning, but in the third set, the Korean archers again won. Earlier, the Indian pair had managed to overcome a tough challenge from Chinese Chappe in the pre-quarterfinals. The Indian pair won that match 5-3.

Deepika, who will also play in the pre-quarterfinals in women's singles, finished ninth on Friday with 663 points in the women's singles ranking round on the first day of the Olympics. South Korea's archers were on the first three positions in the ranking round. Korea's Aan San came first with 680 points, Jang Minhye (677) second and Kang Zhi (675) third. Whereas, Deepika will face 54th-placed Bhutanese archer Karma in the pre-quarterfinals.

In men's singles, Praveen was ranked 31st. In the
men's ranking round, archers Praveen Jadhav was 31st with 656 points, Atanu Das was 35th with 653 points and Tarundeep Roy was 37th with 652 points.
He finished ninth in the men's team event.

Disappointing performance by Elavenil and Apurvi
Indian players disappointed in the women's qualification in 10m Air Rifle. Both Apurvi and Elavenil failed to qualify for the finals. Elavenil finished 16th with a score of 626.5 and Apurvi finished 36th with a score of 621.9.

Badminton: Sai Praneeth of India lost to Misha Zillmerman of Israel in a Group D match. The Israeli player defeated them 21-17, 21-15 in consecutive games.

In rowing, the Indian pair missed the semifinals, now hoping for the repechage round. Indian rowers clocked 6.40.33 minutes in Heat 2. The Indian pair will now enter the repechage round and claim for the bronze medal.
