‘Saina’ has become one of the most awaited biopics from Bollywood in the recent time. The movie has gone through its fair share of obstacles over the course of its shooting and now, it is finally the time when we’ll be seeing it. Last month, rumours were floating about the release of the movie. It was being reported that ‘Saina’ is eyeing the OTT route and might be skipping theatres. But in the recent development, the makers have changed their decision and will be bringing the movie theatrically!
Shubhrajyoti Barat, who plays Parineeti’s father Harvir Singh Nehwal, reportedly said that the video-streaming platforms are an effective option. However, according to him, these decisions are best left to the producers. The film may release in the next few months. The actor also added that he would personally love to see Saina in theatres.
Saina which is based on the life of Badminton player Saina Nehwal was earlier announced with Shraddha Kapoor but after her departure from the movie, Parineeti was roped in. The movie was eyeing a direct release on Amazon Prime Video but the makers have decided to go against it. And it definitely seems the wise decision seeing that the cinema halls are back to full availability resulting in several announcements from filmmakers. Also the fact that the movie is based on a well known sports icon of India, it should definitely arrive in the big screens.
Reports further state that the makers have been contemplating releasing the film on either March 26 or April 9 and have now decided to stick to March 26. Producer Bhushan Kumar, who has backed Saina, is now all set to unwind his line up extending to over 20 major films through the year which begins with the release of Mumbai Saga on March 19. Both Mumbai Saga and Saina were initially being planned to release on digital platforms but decided to take the theatrical route ultimately.
Meanwhile, for Parineeti Chopra, it will be two back-to-back theatrical releases and her third release of the year. Her film Sandeep Aur Pinky Farrar with Arjun Kapoor is set to release on March 19 while The Girl On The Train was released on February 26 on Netflix, published by - The Beyond News (Entertainment)
